Unbelievable Chocolate Stout Cake
UNBELIEVABLE CHOCOLATE STOUT CAKES
1 ½ c. Stout beer
½ c. heavy cream
½ c. plus 2 T. sugar
1 ¼ c. semisweet chocolate chips
4 eggs
1 T. vanilla
4 c. French Bread with crust, cut into 1” cubes or brioche bread
Whipping cream or Cool Whip, to serve
- Preheat oven 325.
- In saucepan, add Stout, cream and ½ c. sugar and let simmer, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Remove from heat.
- Add 1 c. chocolate chips and whisk until melted and smooth. Set aside to cool.
- Whisk eggs and vanilla in large bowl to blend.
- Gradually whisk in cooled chocolate mixture.
- Add bread cubes and remaining chocolate chip and toss to coat.
- Transfer to 1 ½ quart shallow baking dish that is greased with butter or oil
- Sprinkle 2 T. sugar over top.
- Bake until custard thickens or center is just set, about 50-60 minutes.
- Serve warm, cut a circle using round biscuit cutter.
- Garnish with Cool whip and sprinkle of sugar, if desired.
