Jumping Spicy Jalapeno Margaritas

1 medium jalapeno, cut lengthwise, seeds removed
1 ¾ c. silver tequila
3 oz. jalapeno tequila
2 oz. triple sec or orange liqueur
2 oz. fresh lime juice
½ oz. agave or simple syrup (optional)
Lime slices or sliced jalapenos, for garnish

  1. Place the jalapeno halves and tequila in pint-sized glass jar. Cover and let sit at room temp for 24 hours. Then, remove the jalapeno and any seeds that may have escaped.
  2. Combine the jalapeno tequila, triple sec, lime juice and agave in cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  3. Shake for 30 seconds to chill.
  4. Strain into each margarita glass or on the rocks.
  5. Garnish with slices of lime or jalapeno.
