Anytime Sweet Potato Biscuits
ANYTIME SWEET POTATO BISCUITS
1 ½ c. sweet potatoes, mashed
½ c. butter, frozen
3 ¼ c. flour
2 T. baking powder
¼ t. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk, cold
¼ c. Tony Chachere’s Praline Honey Ham Marinade injectable
1 t. Tony Chachere’s Creole seasoning
2 T. sugar
PRALINE BUTTER SAUCE:
1/3 c. Tony Chachere’s Praline Honey Ham Marinade Injectable
3 T. butter, melted
- PRALINE BUTTER SAUCE: Place the Tony Chachere’s Praline Honey Ham Marinade Injectable and melted butter in a microwave safe bowl, microwave for one minute. Set aside.
- Preheat oven 400 and line baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
- In large bowl, combine mashed sweet potatoes, Praline Honey Marinade and buttermilk. Whisk to combine.
- In another bowl, add 3 c. flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and Tony’s Creole seasoning. Stir to mix well.
- Using a box grater, grate frozen butter into small pieces and mix into flour mixture.
- Add flour mixture into sweet potato mixture and mix until it forms a dough.
- Turn out dough onto lightly floured surface. Dough will be sticky, so sprinkle the remaining flour on top of dough as well.
- Kneed dough 10 times, sprinkling with additional flour as necessary.
- Roll dough out to about ¾” thick and cut with round cutters.
- Place on prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Brush top of biscuits with PRALINE BUTTER SAUCE.
