Ingredients
  • 2-4 slices hickory smoked bacon, chopped
  • 1 lb. meaty ham hocks
  • 3 lbs. bunches mustard greens, stems removed and chopped
  • 1 ½ lbs. small turnips, peeled and coarsely chopped
  • 1 large Vidalia onion, chopped
  • 3 T. minced garlic
  • 2 c. chicken broth
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Tabasco, optional
Instructions
  1. In large stockpot, cook bacon until almost crisp.
  2. Add onion and garlic and cook until soft.
  3. Add ham, greens, turnips and stock. Bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer in covered pot. Cook until greens and turnips are tender.
  5. Season to taste. Serve with Tabasco, optional.
