Garlicky Grilled Broccoli
Ingredients
  • 1 lb. fresh broccoli head, cut into florets
  • ½ c. extra virgin olive oil, divided
  • Sea salt, fresh black pepper, to taste
  • 6-8 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 3-4 mild red chilies (such as Fresno chilies), thinly sliced into rounds
  • ½ c. toasted sliced almonds, optional
  • 2 lemons, sliced into wedges
Instructions
  1. Fill a large bowl with ice and cold water and set aside.
  2. Blanch the florets in a large pot of salted boiling water for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Drain and place the florets in the iced water to cool.
  4. Drain florets in colander and dry on paper-towel lined sheet.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine the florets, 4 T. olive oil and season to taste.
  6. Heat a grill pan over high heat.
  7. Grill broccoli until charred on all sides.
  8. Transfer broccoli to a bowl.
  9. In a small skillet over medium heat, add remaining olive oil, garlic, chilies and cook until garlic begins to turn brown
  10. Pour the garlic mixture over broccoli and toss.
  11. Arrange on serving dish and sprinkle with additional salt, pepper and almonds.
  12. Serve with lemon wedges as garnish.
