Wonderful Hot Dog Baguette Style
Ingredients
- 1 fresh baguette
- 3-4 hot dogs
- Shredded sharp cheddar cheese or your favorite
- Chili-homemade or store bought
- Garnishes: chopped onion, pickle relish, mustard, mayo, catsup, sliced jalapenos, etc.
Instructions
- Hull out baguette, down the center, from tip to tip. Discard center part or save for croutons.
- Boil hot dogs. The number of hot dogs you need will depend on the length of your baguette. Drain hot dogs and set aside.
- In hull of baguette, layer as follows: Shredded cheese; then lay hot dogs down on cheese; top with chili; then put more cheese on top.
- Place baguette, dressed side up, on a piece of heavy duty foil (long enough to lay the baguette on.)
- Gently fold up the foil to make a packet.
- Place in oven (if your oven is deep enough at 375 and bake 20-30 minutes.
- You can place this on grill but not on direct heat (this will burn the bottom of bread) and cook on grill 20-30 minutes.
- Remove from cooking device, unfold foil and let set 2-3 minutes.
- Cut into bite-size pieces and set next to condiments.
