VETERANS WALL OF HONOR AND FLAG MURAL DEDICATION!

Good Morning Foodies!

VETERANS WALL OF HONOR AND FLAG MURAL DEDICATION PLANNED FOR JULY 19TH AT COURTHOUSE SQUARE

(Opelousas, LA) – A dedication ceremony for a Memorial Wall of Honor and American flag mural that honors soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country is scheduled for Thursday, July 19th, at 5:30 p.m. at the Courthouse Square, located at 115 S. Court Street in Opelousas.

The Walking Ladies are organizing the ceremony- Friends of Main Street whose members include Cynthia Lormand, Susie Glowacki, Cathy Hebert, Alice Morrow and Jeanine Wallace, with support from St. Landry Parish Government and Opelousas Main Street.

The St. Landry Parish Veterans Memorial Committee also assisted with the Memorial Wall project, which includes the names of fallen heroes from St. Landry Parish who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the following wars: World war I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Iraq War and Afghanistan. For the July 19th ceremony, the American Legion Post 334 of Port Barre will take part in the dedication.

The four-panel flag mural was painted by Acadiana artist, A.J. Hebert. Born in Crowley, Hebert began drawing at the young age of two. His work includes paintings, graphite and charcoal portraits and pen and ink. Hebert says his inspiration is drawn from the art of the great masters, old and new, such as Rembrandt, John Singer Sargent, J. L. David, Arvid and Norman Rockwell. Hebert currently resides in Lafayette, where he also works as Operations Manager in the family owned business, Cajun Harley Davidson. He resides in Lafayette, Louisiana with his wife Christina and their two children.

The Walking Ladies invite Veterans, family members and friends to attend the July 19th dedication ceremony.

This is one of those life-time events to pay homage to the families of the fallen heroes and living Veterans. This is when you SPEAK in such a way that others LOVE TO LISTEN TO YOU and then LISTEN in such a way that others LOVE TO SPEAK TO YOU!

Hoping this memorial will show them that when SOMEONE you LOVE becomes a MEMORY…the MEMORY becomes a TREASURE!

We all need to remember: YESTERDAY is HISTORY; TOMORROW is a MYSTERY; TODAY is a GIFT! The best way to CHEER yourself up is to try and CHEER somebody else up!

Hope to see many of you this evening at this wonderful event!
Have a safe and productive weekend!
