Skillet Shepherd Pie
Ingredients
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 box “Salisbury” Hamburger Helper
- Hot water and milk as called for on Hamburger Helper Box
- 2 c. frozen mixed vegetables, thawed
- 1 box of Mashed Potato (dried box type)-enough for 6 servings
- Salt, red/black pepper, garlic powder
- ½ c. shredded cheddar cheese
- Chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook beef, stirring frequently until brown. Crumble it up, and season to taste. Drain.
- Place meat back into skillet.
- Stir in hot water, milk, sauce mix and uncooked pasta from the Hamburger Helper box, and thawed veggies. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Taste for seasoning.
- Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until pasta and veggies are tender. Remove from heat.
- Meanwhile, cook the mashed potatoes following box directions (make for 6 servings.)
- Spoon and gently spread mashed potatoes over pasta mixture.
- Sprinkle with cheese. Cover and let stand 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.
- Sprinkle with cheese.
