Sauté Shredded Brussel Sprouts
Ingredients
- 1 T. olive oil
- 4 slices good bacon, cut into thin strips
- 2 shallots, minced
- 6 cloves of garlic, minced
- 12 ounces of fresh brussel sprouts, cut in half, then cut each half in thin slices so it appears shredded
- 1 bottle Wishbone Italian Dressing or your favorite
- Kosher salt, black pepper
- 1 T. brown sugar
- ¼ c. lemon juice
- ⅓ c. chopped fresh parsley or green onions
- Parmesan cheese, optional
Instructions
- Prep the brussel sprouts. Place in Ziploc bag and season with salt and black pepper and add enough Italian dressing to coat them all. Refrigerate at least 24 hours or more. You can skip this step if you like. I like the flavor it gives the sprouts and takes some of the bitterness out.
- When ready to prepare dish, take large skillet and heat olive oil.
- Add the bacon, sauté until cooked.
- Add garlic and shallots and cook for another 2-3 mnutes.
- Add drained brussel sprouts and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add the brown sugar and the lemon juice and taste for seasoning. Let cook for another 1-3 minutes or until hot.
- Sprinkle with parsley or green onions. Serve.
Notes
*****You can sprinkle fresh parmesan cheese. With leftovers, you can add to pasta and add chicken pieces or turkey for a nice salad.
