Ingredients
  • 8 slices whole wheat bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 T. milk
  • ⅓ c. sugar
  • 2 t. ground cinnamon
  • 1 t. ground nutmeg
  • Butter, for coating skillet
  • FILLING OPTIONS:
  • Softened cream cheese
  • Canned fruit fillings
  • Sliced fresh fruit, like apples, pears, peaches, bananas
  • Peanut butter
  • Jellies
Instructions
  1. Cut crusts from the bread and flatten with rolling pin.
  2. Spread the desired filling on one side of the bread.
  3. Tightly roll up the slice of bread.
  4. In a shallow dish, beat eggs and milk and whisk together.
  5. In another bowl, combine the sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  6. In a skillet, melt butter to coat inside of skillet.
  7. Dip each roll in egg mixture and place in skillet.
  8. Cook 3-4 in each batch, turning until roll is browned.
  9. Dip in the sugar mixture and roll until completely covered.
  10. Serve immediately.
