Today’s GADGET is the HANDLE SLEEVE. I occasionally forget that my hands aren’t made of TEFLON and burn the ***** out of them while cooking. Then, I became WISE and bought the HANDLE SLEEVE. It is basically a silicone (or similar material) sleeve that slips onto the handle of a skillet, creating a barrier between skin and hot metal. It is also usually textured with a series of ridges or bumps to prevent slippage while ferrying the heavy pan from burner to burner, or to the table. This one is made by Le Creuset and specially curved to fit the contours of the Le Creuset skillet. It is safe up to 482 degrees, but there are plenty of other brands like LODGE, WILLIAMS-SONOMA, ORBILLE and AMAZON BASICS offer their versions as well in a panoply of colors and girths, from $2-$16. It is dishwasher-safe. I also received for Christmas the same type of product but it comes in two handle slip-ons. These are offered by the PAMPERED CHEF! They really take the place of those bulky pot holders! I don’t even think about it anymore. There has been 100 percent reduction of skillet-related burns. Now, if I can find one that I can just slip over my tongue before impatiently sipping my hot, hot, hot coffee!

Have a great day!
