HELPING QUAKE VICTIMS!
Good Morning Foodies! I am sure you all have seen the after effects of the 6.1 earthquake that hit the town of NAPA a few weeks ago. We have some dear friends there and have talked to most of them. Everyone is pulling together and recovery is moving quite nicely. Our godchild, COLLEEN FLEMING, just recently opened a precious wine and beer bar in the town of Napa. Of course, there were many broken glasses, mirrors, etc. She did lose some of her wines, etc. but is putting it back together. She says the surrounding communities are coming together and helping with the clean-up. I told her I was sorry I could not be there to help. I also told her that I could easily gather a group to come with straws and suck up the spilled wine on the floor. No sense in letting that go to waste! She said it was not necessary—-BUMMER!
Do you remember when I talked about “HIGH-MAINTENANCE FRIENDS”? The quick refresher course in this: We all have friends, but some are so precious to us but maybe a little flighty in the head and crazy words come out of their mouths! I call my friend, “MS. NO-SENSE”!
Well, here is the latest story from my dear “MS. NO-SENSE”! I was telling her that my heel of my foot was hurting and that I think I bruised it somehow. I said to her, “IT IS AMAZING HOW ONE GLASS OF WINE MAKES MY FOOT FEEL SO MUCH BETTER”! Her response was, “I HOPE YOU USED A CHARDONNAY BECAUSE THE RED WINE ON YOUR FOOT COULD STAIN AND THAT WOULD NOT LOOK SO GOOD”! I think how I try to be humorous with my thoughts and stories, but that just comes right out of her mouth and makes me laugh. THESE FRIENDS ARE PRICELESS—KEEPS ME GROUNDED!
ANOTHER REMINDER: ROYAL SOIREE IS MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 8TH AT THE EVANGELINE DOWNS EVENT CENTER. ACTIVITIES BEGIN AT 6 PM! COME SEE SOME AMAZING AND CREATIVE DISHES FOR THE LOCAL TALENT!
Have a safe and productive weekend!
