Ingredients
  • 2 (8-oz.) packages Monterey Jack Cheese
  • 1 c. flour
  • 2 t. red pepper
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 1 c. fine, dry Italian breadcrumbs or plain
  • Canola oil
  • Commercial salsa or marinara sauce, for dipping
Instructions
  1. Cut cheeses crosswise into ¾” slices.
  2. Lay slices flat and cut in half lengthwise.
  3. Combine flour and red pepper. Mix well.
  4. Dip cheese sticks in the beaten eggs.
  5. Then dredge in flour mixture.
  6. Dip again in egg mixture then dip in breadcrumbs, pressing firmly so that the crumbs adhere.
  7. Place cheese sticks on wax paper on a baking sheet and freeze for 1 hour.
  8. Heat oil to 375. Fry the frozen sticks until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve with salsa or marinara sauce.
Notes
*****You can substitute mozzarella or Swiss for the Monterey Jack.
