Alice's Famous Steak Sauce
Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter or oleo
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 1 T. red pepper
- 1 T. black pepper
- 2 T. salt
- 2 T. garlic powder
- 1 c. light brown sugar
- 1 c. yellow mustard
- ½ c. Lea and Perrins
- ¼ c. Tabasco
- 1 ½ c. white vinegar
- 1 ½ c. bottled lemon juice
- 2 (28-oz.) bottles Heinz catsup
Instructions
- Melt butter and add onions and sauté until soft.
- Stir in peppers, salt and garlic powder. Mix well.
- Add sugar and mustard and blend well. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Add Lea and Perrins, Tabasco, vinegar and lemon juice.
- Blend well.
- Slowly add catsup and stir to mix.
- Let it come to a boil and then let simmer for 10-12 minutes.
Notes
*****You can place in smaller containers and keep in refrigerator up to a month or more. I like to use this on beef. I have a separate sauce for poultry, pork, and lamb. My family likes to take this sauce and place on top of their baked potato after putting their other condiments. Very good sauce!!!!!!!!!!!!
