Ingredients
  • 400 grams or 2 c. flour
  • 50 grams or 2 oz. lard/shortening
  • 10 eggs
  • 1 t. baking soda
  • ½ liter or 2.11 cups of water
  • Frying oil
  • Pinch of salt
  • Ricotta cream, chocolate chips, candied orange peel, powdered sugar, optional
Instructions
  1. Heat some water with a pinch of salt and melt the lard.
  2. Add the flour and baking soda, stirring vigorously to prevent lumping.
  3. Add eggs one at a time. Stir the mixture well, until smooth.
  4. Let mixture stand for 15 minutes.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan.
  6. Take spoonfuls of mixture and drop into hot oil.
  7. When fritters turn an even golden color, drain on paper towels.
  8. You can stuff them with a mixture of the ricotta cream, chocolate chips, candied orange peel and dust with powdered sugar.
