Garlicky Grilled Broccoli
Ingredients
- 1 lb. fresh broccoli head, cut into florets
- ½ c. extra virgin olive oil, divided
- Sea salt, fresh black pepper, to taste
- 6-8 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
- 3-4 mild red chilies (such as Fresno chilies), thinly sliced into rounds
- ½ c. toasted sliced almonds, optional
- 2 lemons, sliced into wedges
Instructions
- Fill a large bowl with ice and cold water and set aside.
- Blanch the florets in a large pot of salted boiling water for 1-2 minutes.
- Drain and place the florets in the iced water to cool.
- Drain florets in colander and dry on paper-towel lined sheet.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the florets, 4 T. olive oil and season to taste.
- Heat a grill pan over high heat.
- Grill broccoli until charred on all sides.
- Transfer broccoli to a bowl.
- In a small skillet over medium heat, add remaining olive oil, garlic, chilies and cook until garlic begins to turn brown
- Pour the garlic mixture over broccoli and toss.
- Arrange on serving dish and sprinkle with additional salt, pepper and almonds.
- Serve with lemon wedges as garnish.
