Ingredients
  • 12 oz. ground round
  • 12 oz. bulk milk Italian sausage
  • ½ c. basil pesto, divided
  • 8 slices fresh mozzarella
  • 4 slices Italian baguette (if you can get rosemary flavored, get it)
  • 1 T. olive oil
  • 8 thin slices tomato, seasoned with salt, black pepper
  • Fresh basil leaves
Instructions
  1. Preheat grill to medium. Brush grill with oil.
  2. Combine ground round, sausage and ¼ c. pesto.
  3. Divide and shape into 4 oval patties
  4. Grill Patties, covered, until an instant thermometer inserted in center comes out 160, about 5-6 minutes per side.
  5. Top each burger with 2 slices of mozzarella and grill until melted.
  6. Transfer burgers to plate, tent with foil and let rest 2-3 minutes.
  7. Brush baguette slices with oil and grill until toasted on both sides.
  8. Spread remaining ¼ c. pesto on bread slices.
  9. Top with burgers and tomato. Garnish with basil leaves.
