What is 90???
Yesterday, was my dad’s birthday. He would of been 95. This man loved life and birthday parties. I remember giving him a 90th birthday party. There were 100 plus people there. When most of us shy away from all the hoopla, he wanted all the hoopla. He was such an optimistic man. When I would tell him Aunt Clara and Uncle Tony can’t come to the party, he would flash that big smile and say, they will come next year. I loved that spirit about him. We should all have a bit of that in us.
I would like to share a little story I wrote about my Dad on his 90th birthday.
WHAT IS 90????
“Rough, sore hands-from hard work to provide for loved ones.
Stooped, heavy shoulders-from hard work to provide for loved ones.
A wrinkled face-from the joy and laughter in his life.
Closed ears, silent mouth-because God said, “You can be perfect without these.”
Never a frown, always a smile, never a complaint, always willing to help.
This is my dad-my children and grandchildren’s Paw-Paw and my mom’s best friend.”
MISS HIM SO MUCH!!!!
I never saw my dad cook one thing in my entire life. But he was surrounded by Italian women who took over. He did provide from his bountiful garden.
All I can wish for all of you, is that you have some male figure in your life that you can reflect on for their positive contributions into who you have become.
This is something I always remember from my dad and want my kids to know:
“I CAN’T PROMISE THAT I’LL BE HERE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE…..BUT I CAN PROMISE THAT I’LL LOVE YOU FOR THE REST OF MINE!”
Enjoy your weekend with family and friends! Be blessed in knowing that these holidays come, but don’t let them leave without some memory!!!
