The Feast of the Epiphany

While most people around the country are winding down their holiday revelries and buckling down on their New Year’s resolutions, the party is just getting started in Louisiana. The Feast of the Epiphany (January 6, or Twelfth Night) marks the beginning of Carnival season, a time of masquerade balls, lavish parades, and general merriment that culminates on Mardi Gras Day (February 25 this year).

Twelfth Night celebrates the evening the three wise men presented gifts to the infant Jesus. Today, several parades and other happenings begin the season with a healthy heap of history and a hint of satire.

This past Sunday was the 12th Night! Are you ready for the Mardi Gras season!

Have a great day!
