The Patriotic Margarita
Ingredients
- SIMPLE SYRUP
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. water
- RED MARGARITA
- ¼ c. cranberry juice cocktail
- 1 oz. clear Silver Tequila
- 1 oz. orange-flavored liqueur (for red) For blue use blue curacao.
- 1 T. simple syrup
- 1 T. fresh lemon juice
- Ice
- Lemon wedge
- Colored sugar
Instructions
- SIMPLE SYRUP: Mix sugar and water in saucepan. Heat to boiling, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and set aside to cool, about 1 hour. Pour syrup into glass jar, seal and refrigerate until needed. Makes about 1 ¼ c. You can also today buy already made simple syrup.
- RED MARGARITA: Add cranberry juice, tequila, orange-flavored liqueur, simple syrup and lemon juice to cocktail shaker that is filled with ice. Cover and shake.
- Rub rim of martini glass with lemon wedge, dip in sugar, strain cocktail into glass.
- BLUE MARGARITA: Prepare as above except use blue curacao for the orange-flavored liqueur.
Notes
*****You can substitute citrus vodka for the tequila if desired.
