Steak Hoagies with BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
- Sauce:
- 1 large shallot, chopped
- 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped
- 2 T. minced garlic
- 1 t. mustard seed
- ¼ c. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 T. black peppercorns
- 1 c. catsup
- 3 T. Ponzu Soy Sauce
- 1 c. beef stock
- 2 T. Tabasco
- 3 T. honey
- Meat:
- 1 ½-2 lbs. flank steak or leftover cooked beef tenderloin, sliced
- Canola oil
- Hoagie Roll or Roll of your choice
- Arugla or favorite greens
- Sliced red onion
- Sliced pickles
Instructions
- In food processor, combine the shallot, pepper, garlic, mustard seed, Worcestershire and peppercorns. Process until you have a smooth paste.
- Place the paste in a saucepan and add the catsup, soy sauce, stock, Tabasco and honey. Bring to boil and reduce heat to simmer and cook 20 minutes. Cool and keep stored in refrigerator until needed.
- If you are using flank steak, place in freezer for about 5 minutes or until cold. Remove and shred or cut against the grain. In skillet, heat the oil. Add the meat and season and cook for about 2-3 minutes. Turn off heat and combine with warmed bbq sauce.
- Heat rolls in 325 oven and dress your hoagie with greens, onions and pickles or whatever you might like.
Notes
*****If you have leftover beef from some other meal, just sub it for the flank steak. You just heat the meat and combine with sauce and you are done.
