Spicy Baked Tuna Steaks Wrapped in Foil Packets
Ingredients
- 2 (8-10 oz.) tuna steaks, good quality grade
- Olive oil
- Sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder
- 8 oz. fresh pico de gallo
- ½ c. chopped onion
- ½ of carton of sliced mushrooms
- ½ carton of cherry tomatoes, halved
- ½ c. lemon juice
- ¼ c. soy sauce
- Thick balsamic vinegar
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 1 bunch of green onions, chopped
Instructions
- Rub tuna steaks with olive oil and season with salt, pepper and garlic powder.
- Tear heavy duty foil that will fit the size of your steak in order to make a packet.
- Spray bottom of foil with PAM.
- Place tuna steak on foil.
- In a bowl, combine the pico, onion, mushrooms, tomatoes, lemon juice, soy sauce and season with salt and pepper.
- Divide the pico mixture evenly between the steaks.
- Place 2-3 lemon slices on each steak.
- Drizzle with thick balsamic vinegar.
- Fold the sides of the foil over the fish and cover completely. Seal packets closed. Place on heavy duty baking sheet.
- Bake at 400 for 30-40 minutes depending on how rare you like it.
- Remove from oven. Open packets and slice the tuna steaks. If they are too rare, just leave foil open and place back in oven to get to the desired temperature.
