Sloppy Chile-Turkey Joes
Ingredients
- 1 to 1 ½ lb. ground turkey breast
- 1 medium Vidalia onion, chopped
- 1 medium fresh poblano chile pepper, seeded and chopped
- 1 (15-oz.) can tomato sauce
- 2 T. packed brown sugar
- 1 T. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 T. chili powder
- 1 t. garlic powder
- Salt, black pepper
- 4 hamburger buns, split and toasted
- 4 slices Monterey Jack cheese or your favorite
Instructions
- In large nonstick skillet, cook the ground turkey, onion and chile pepper until turkey is no longer pink.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, sugar, Worcestershire, chili powder and garlic powder.
- Bring to boil and then reduce heat.
- Simmer, covered 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Season to taste.
- Serve in buns with cheese slices.
