Paula Deen's Zesty Orange Bars
Ingredients
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 ½ c. flour
- 1 t. salt
- 1 c. butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 2 t. orange zest, divided
- 1 t. orange extract
- 1 c. powdered sugar
- 2 T. fresh orange juice
- Orange zest strips, garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven 350.
- Line 13x9” baking pan with foil, letting excess extend over sides of pan.
- Spray with PAM.
- In large bowl, whisk together sugar, flour and salt.
- Add butter, eggs, 1 t. zest and extract.
- Beat with mixer at medium speed until well combined.
- Spread batter into prepared pan.
- Bake 30 minutes or until golden brown and center is set.
- Remove from oven and prick all over the top with a fork.
- In small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice and remaining zest until smooth.
- Pour onto warm pan and let cool completely.
- Using excess foil as handles, remove from pan and cut into bars.
- Garnish with zest strips, if desired.
- Store in airtight container for 2 days or in refrigerator.
