MOTHERS’ DAY!
You know the food for MOTHERS always seem to revolve around brunch items. As I told you before, they feed you in bed. Then, it is up and at it! You get in there, and pull that wonderful MOTHERS’ DAY LUNCH together, so the men can take credit for it.
My CRÈME BRULEE is a prime example of that. For years, I have been making this dessert for my kids and GRAND PEEPS. One year, as we finished our meal, one GRAND PEEP, said, “GRAMMIE, WHEN IS POPPA GONNA MAKE HIS CRÈME BRULEE?” The reason he gets the credit is that they always see him with the little burner, crystallizing the sugar. They just assumed he made the whole thing! So, I should really name it POPPA’S CRÈME BRULEE.
As I have stated before, you do not necessarily have to give birth to be a MOTHER! I know many aunts, nieces, cousins, grandparents, and even males that take on the role of being a mother-figure-head.
One thing I know for sure, when you lose your Mother, all of a sudden, you seem to remember everything she said or tried to instill in you. A day does not go by, that I do not think of my Mother. Something, as little as a smell from the kitchen, a sound of shuffling feet, looking at a rocking chair, can bring all those memories roaring back.
I know, there are people, who may not have such good memories, but I hope for them that there is someone, somewhere that can fulfill that role. We all deserve someone to look up to. Just remember, that you can be that person, for someone in your family or community, who needs a mentor. One thing I can remember my grandmother, then my mother, saying to me: “DON’T TRY SO HARD TO FIT IN—WHEN YOU WERE BORN TO STAND OUT!” Today—go out and hug and kiss that person, who was or is, your MOTHER FIGURE!
I want to wish my first-born, Craig, a very happy birthday, which falls on MOTHER’S DAY this year. He is the reason I had my first MOTHERS’ DAY! I could not think of a better gift. He has enriched my life by having the most beautiful and talented wife, Nicole. The best part is the four beautiful GRAND PEEPS they have blessed me and hubby with. I am truly blessed and going to enjoy all the wet kisses and tight hugs I can get this weekend and any day that follows!
Wishing all you fabulous MOTHERS a most wonderful day of celebration of your magnificent role in today’s society!
As my HUBBY always tells me, “EVERYDAY IS MOTHERS’ DAY!” I like that! Be safe and share this most precious holiday with whoever fulfills that role of MOTHER for you!
This weekend is one of those filled with family events, along with the infamous MOTHER’S DAY! You know the drill, KITCHEN WILL BE CLOSED ON MONDAY, MAY 10TH, will be back on TUESDAY, MAY 11TH!
In closing, wanted to share a story about MOTHERS that I believe says it all!
YOUR MOTHER IS ALWAYS WITH YOU!
She is the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street. She is the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick, the fragrance of life itself. She is the cool hand on your brow when you ae not feeling well, she is your breath in the air on a cold winter’s day. She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colors of a rainbow, she is Christmas morning. Your MOTHER lives inside your laughter. She is the place you come from, your first home and she is the map you follow with every step you take. She is your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy, but nothing on EARTH can separate you. NOT TIME, NOT SPACE…NOT EVEN DEATH!
Have a safe and productive weekend!
