In 2000, Jim and his wife, Peggy built and opened Lastrapes Garden Center, where they have provided for the Opelousas community for 23 years.

Lastrapes Garden Center was one of the very first businesses in our district and Mr. Jim was always there to attend board meetings, encourage, and help where ever he could. A friend to all, we will miss him dearly.
