Grilled Banana Boats
Ingredients
- 4-8 bananas
- Optional Toppings:
- Caramel Bites
- Chocolate Chips
- Mini Marshmallows
- Peanut Butter Cups
- Peppermint Patties
- Any Chocolate Candy Bar
- Graham Crackers, Crushed into crumbs
- Rum, optional
- Brown sugar
- Cherries, Strawberries, Blackberries, Blueberries, Peaches, Raspberries, etc.
- Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt, Cool Whip
- Nuts and Various Sprinkles
Instructions
- Tear a square piece of foil to cover each banana. Take the bottom of the banana and make a thin slice off so that the banana can sit up and not fall over.
- Take the knife and on the curve part of the belly of the banana and cut from tip to tip through the skin.
- Pull the skin apart on each side. Take the knife and make crosswise cuts of the banana. Do not cut all the way though the other side.
- Place on the foil.
- Fill the belly of the banana with your choice of toppings. Wrap foil tightly. Place on baking sheet and place in 350 oven for 5-8 minutes. Do not worry if skin turns brown. You can also do this on a grill.
- For the Bananas Foster Taste: Put a little butter, rum, brown sugar.
- Other mixtures I use are: Marshmallows, Peanut Butter Cups; Marshmallows and other Chocolate Pieces; Fruit and Chocolate. Just let your imagination run.
Notes
*****Let kids do these after you prep the banana. They will love filling the bananas. Then of course, when taken out you can add ice cream, yogurt, etc.
