Cheese Stuffed Mushroom Pizza Burgers
Ingredients
- 1 ½-2 lbs. lean ground beef or turkey
- 1 t. Italian seasoning
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 T. olive oil
- 1 (8-oz.) carton sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1 T. minced garlic
- 4 burger buns, split
- ½-1 c. favorite pizza sauce, warmed
Instructions
- In bowl, mix beef, and seasonings. Shape mixture into 8 patties (4 ½” in diameter, ¼” thick.)
- Press ¼ c. of cheese into a ball with your hands. Press flat to 3 ½” diameter patty. Repeat with remaining cheese.
- Place cheese patties on top of 4 beef patties and then top with remaining beef patties. Pinch edges together to seal.
- In large skillet, heat olive oil and add mushrooms and cook until lightly browned. Add garlic and cook 1 minute longer. Season to taste.
- Place patties on grill and cook 11-15 minutes with cover on grill. Turn once and cook until internal temperature is 160.
- In last few minutes, place buns, cut sides down on grill and toast.
- Place burgers on bottom halves of buns.
- Top with pizza sauce and mushroom mixture. Cover with top of bun.
