NEW MONTH!
Good Morning Foodies!
Well, well, well, we are in the last month of this 2016 YEAR! Yes, time does not just fly it is in a jet mode!
I hope you all are survived the BLACK FRIDAY AND CYBER MONDAY! Don’t know about you but it looks like it is still going on no matter what day it is! Almost as bad as the ELECTION COMMERCIALS!
I want to take this time to thank all of the SPONSORS, WORKERS AND HELPERS that gave their time and energy to the LIGHTING OF THE COURTHOUSE NATIVITY AND OAKS.
There was a great crowd. I believe the one thing that stuck with me was the conversations I had with some of the older generations, those who were born and grew up here in Opelousas. They all said it reminded them of the glory days of old. That made me feel really good. I saw all ages, genders, ethnic backgrounds, different work fields represented that night on the square. It was a very calming but exciting feeling to see people coming together just to enjoy the true spirit of CHRISTMAS!
We will be celebrating OPELOUSAS TRI-CENTENNIAL in 2020! We are working very hard to keep up this new tradition downtown and at the same time, enhance more of the surrounding areas. If you or you know anyone who would like to make donations of money or time, please feel free to contact us. We need all the help we can get.
If you are still searching for some of that fabulous HOLIDAY SPIRIT—venture over to THE ACADEMY OF THE SACRED HEART in GRAND COTEAU, LA this coming weekend! It is a most engaging atmosphere when it comes to beauty and tranquility. There will be over 80 vendors and many activities for all ages. Grand way to get some of that stressful CHRISTMAS SHOPPING done all in one spot! Wonderful way to treat yourself and anyone who you bring along! I have so many wonderful memories of this event when my girls were in school there. I now have GRANDDAUGHTERS there, so I get to continue this wonderful tradition!
We should all try to remember “IT IS NOT WHAT IS UNDER THAT CHRISTMAS TREE THAT MATTERS THE MOST, IT IS WHO IS AROUND THAT TREE!”
Have a safe and most productive weekend!
