FATHER’S DAY!
Good Morning Foodies!
I am stumped! As I sit and look at the blank page and think about what I want to say that has not been said before, I realize that almost everything has been said about our wonderful FATHERS! As we age, holidays such as FATHER’S DAY take on a different meaning. When we were young, and beloved members of our family-FATHER, MOTHER, BROTHER, SISTER, AUNT, UNCLE, GRANDPARENTS passed away, we felt the sorrow and pain of their passing. As we mature, with life zooming by quickly, the years of interaction with our loved ones who leave us all too soon, makes us realize just how much we miss those family members that we have interacted with for all those wonderful years!
Having lost my FATHER late in life, I try not to dwell on the sadness of losing my DAD; rather, I recall all the great times I have had with him, which allows me ease the void in my heart!
When I think of my Dad, remembering him is so easy, I do it every day! Missing him is the heartache that never goes away. I have dear friends who have lost significant men in their lives. The GRIEF never ends, but it does change. It is a PASSAGE, not a PLACE to stay. GRIEF is not a sign of WEAKNESS, nor a lack of FAITH—IT IS THE PRICE OF LOVING THAT PERSON!
I do not have my FATHER with me, but I do have a most fantastic HUBBY, SON and two SON-IN-LAWS. Every day I witness them being great HUSBANDS AND FATHERS. I always loved the saying: “Being MALE is a matter of BIRTH! Being a MAN is a matter of AGE! But, being a GENTLEMAN is a matter of CHOICE!”
My HUBBY is one the greatest BLESSINGS to me from GOD. His love is a GIFT that I open EVERY DAY.
I really believe that no matter what holiday is upon us, we should all be consistent in our beliefs in a very positive way. LOVE your SPOUSE, CHILDREN, FAMILY, and FRIENDS more than you love your CAREER, HOBBIES AND MONEY. THAT STUFF CAN’T LOVE YOU BACK!
I hope all you FOODIES get to spend time this weekend with loved ones! I wish all FATHERS a most blessed day! Enjoy those around you!
