Good Morning Foodies! Please bear with me a little today! This coming Sunday is the anniversary of my “DAD’S” passing. It will be 5 years—felt like yesterday. I know those of you who knew my dad, would agree he was the most amazing man. His greatest attributes were his beautiful smile, his generosity and having such a kind heart. He was so very talented. Being a deaf mute did not in any way shape or form keep him from doing anything and everything he loved.

I know GOD is PERFECT but I wish that he saw the wisdom in having VISITING HOURS IN HEAVEN. I see we can visit people in their homes, work places, in nursing homes, in hospitals, in jails and then the all-lasting place, funeral homes-so I think we should be able to visit in HEAVEN. Wouldn’t that be the nicest thing ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the past few years, we have a very nice man who takes care of the property at our lodge. I know GOD sent him. He is either my DAD reincarnated or a GUARDIAN ANGEL sent by GOD! I know my DAD had his talk with the MAN UP ABOVE and said “send my daughter someone like me to watch over her”!

That he did! This wonderful man not only looks like my DAD, but has his SMILE and has the KINDEST HEART and his work is PERFECTION. I can close my eyes and just feel my DAD’S presence.

One day, two men made a furniture delivery to the lodge. My GUARDIAN ANGEL showed them where to go and made sure they were careful. When we got to the room, I told him he could leave. He asked me if I knew the two men. I said no—he then said, WELL, MS. ALICE, I WILL STAY WITH YOU UNTIL THEY LEAVE! That gesture just gave me goose-bumps.
I can always remember a saying that comes to mind often since my DAD passed away. “I CAN’T PROMISE THAT I’LL BE HERE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE…BUT I CAN PROMISE THAT I’LL LOVE YOU FOR THE REST OF MINE”!

My DAD’S SMILE expresses the saying, “YOU ARE SOMEBODY’S REASON TO SMILE”—I always try to remember that simple phrase.
I know in the past few months our community has lost some spectacular people. I know they have the most horrible emptiness, but until you walk in their shoes, you will never know how deep that pain is.

I remember when my GRANDFATHER passed away, my GRANDMOTHER kept a card by the side of her bed. It was something that I assumed made her pain a little more bearable.
The card said this:
It broke our HEARTS to LOSE you, but you did not go ALONE. A part of US went with YOU, the day GOD took you home. If TEARS could build a STAIRWAY, and HEARTACHES make a lane, we’d walk our way to HEAVEN, and bring YOU back again. In LIFE we LOVED you dearly, in DEATH we love you still, in our HEARTS you hold a PLACE no one could ever FILL!

Every day I try to think of all those I love and reach out to them. TOMORROWS are no GUARANTEES! Don’t waste another day in bitterness and anger. Reach out to those wonderful people in your life!
Have a safe and productive weekend!
