Frickle Pickle

Ingredients
  • 1 (16-oz.) jar sliced dill pickles
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 3 T. Tabasco
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 c. yellow cornmeal
  • 2 T. Creole seasoning or a blend of salt, red/black pepper, garlic powder
  • 4 c. canola or peanut oil
  • Salt
Instructions
  1. Drain pickles in a colander, then spread them on paper towels to drain completely.
  2. Combine buttermilk and Tabasco in a bowl.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, cornmeal and creole seasoning.
  4. Heat oil in a medium heavy duty pot to 350.
  5. Submerge pickles in buttermilk mixture.
  6. Then dip in flour mixture, tossing to evenly coat.
  7. Shake in strainer to remove excess batter.
  8. Add to oil in batches but do not overcrowd.
  9. Fry and turn to cook until golden brown and crisp. About 2 minutes.
  10. Drain on paper towels and season with more Creole seasoning and salt to taste.
  11. Serve hot.
Notes
*****You can use various dipping sauces like catsup, remoulade, hot wing sauce, etc.
