Preheat oven 350. Butter 8x8” baking pan. Set aside.
Brownie Layer: In saucepan, melt butter. Remove butter to large bowl and add sugar, vanilla, cocoa, salt, food coloring and vinegar (in that order), mixing between additions.
Whisk eggs in small bowl and stir in the cocoa mixture.
Fold in flour until lightly combined. Stir in nuts and pour batter into prepared pan, saving ¼ c. of batter.
Cream Cheese Layer: Blend cream cheese, sugar, egg and vanilla in bowl.
Gently spread this layer over brownie layer.
Dollop the remaining brownie layer over the cream cheese layer.
Using a skewer or tip of knife, drag the tip through the cream cheese mixture to create a swirl pattern.
Bake for 30 minutes. Remove and cool completely before cutting.
