Ingredients
  • 3 c. flour
  • ¾ c. sugar
  • ½ t. salt
  • 1 ½ c. cold butter, cubed
  • 3 c. canned cherry pie filling
  • 1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1 c. powdered sugar
  • 4-6 t. whole milk
  • ½ t. almond extract
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven 350.
  2. Line bottom and sides of 13x9” pan with heavy-duty foil, allowing 3” to overlap and lightly grease with PAM.
  3. Pulse flour, sugar and salt in food processor until combined.
  4. Add butter cubes and pulse until mixture is crumbly.
  5. Reserve 1 c. flour mixture. Press rest into bottom of prepared dish.
  6. Bake in oven 25-30 minutes until lightly browned.
  7. Spread cherry pie filling over crust.
  8. Toss together reserved flour mixture and pecans.
  9. Sprinkle this over the cherry pie, evenly.
  10. Bake until golden brown, 30-40 minutes.
  11. Cool completely in pan.
  12. Lift baked bars from pan, using foil sides to lift.
  13. Stir together powdered sugar, 4 t. milk and extract. Add extra milk if needed to get the creamy consistency.
  14. Drizzle over pecan mixture.
  15. Cut into 48 bars.
  16. Wrap in foil for up to 3 days or store in refrigerator, or freeze.

*****You can change up fruit filling mix like apple, peach, blueberry, etc.
